What is included in the Oral Health Test?Updated 2 months ago

The Basepaws Oral Health Test is a basic swab sample, and it comes in the same type of box as the DNA kit. They are the same type of swab sample for both tests, so each Basepaws Breed + Health Test now comes with a free Oral Health report.

This test covers 3 of the most common oral conditions in cats: Periodontal disease, tooth resorption, and bad breath. The test evaluates your pet's risk of developing these conditions. We assign a risk score for each dental condition:

High-Risk - indicates that the current state of the pet’s microbiome shows multiple features consistent with suffering from a particular dental condition

Medium-Risk - indicates that the current state of the pet’s microbiome shows some features consistent with suffering from a particular dental condition

Low-Risk - indicates that the current state of the pet’s microbiome shows (almost) no features consistent with suffering from a particular dental condition        

The test can also identify the top plant or animal organisms whose trace DNA is found in your pet's mouth, but keep in mind that this is a bonus feature, and it's not always possible to obtain this information with every sample.
